VIESTE, THE PEARL OF GARGANO

Immersed into green of pinewoods and forests as well as surrounded by the sea, Gargano, the land of farmers and fishermen, has its pearl: Vieste.

Vieste is a simple and calm town, nature’s favourite, chosen to be the mirror and the guardian of its priceless and ancient treasures: the clear blue sky, the clear sea with reflections and shades you get blinded with, vast woods, ancient forests and pinewoods scented with aromatic herbs and saltiness.

Vieste is surrounded by the sea which shapes indented inlets and bays washing kilometres of golden sanded beaches. With its extraordinary rocky scenery it is e perfect place to dive and admire the sea fauna. Among others the particularly famous bays are St.felice Bay, Campi Bay, PugnoChiuso Bay that can be reached both by land and by sea.

The peculiarity of this tourist spot is the everyday ability to visit different bay or beach and go on trips by sea, along the coast, hiring small boats to enjoy entirely the day of sea. It is also possible to go for a pleasant walk in town, in particular to the characteristic old city centre of Vieste which is rich in history, where you can admire ancient dwelling on the ground floor now used as tiny typical local shops.

Peeping through alleys sheer to the sea you can admire the coast with its famous Trabucchi which had been used for fishing on the extreme ends of the coast.
